Minerva Stop Watch problem - NAWCC Forums
Sounds like the sweep hand is loose. However, this won't be the case as it will be the cam on the other side of the dial that is loose. This needs the attention of someone who has fixed these timers before. It is a simple timer or stopwatch. They are all similar only that some have more expensive movements.

Elgin Jitterbugs - NAWCC Forums
The timer was also used as an instrument/tool while firing ordinance. By watching down-range, and knowing the muzzle velocity of the ordinance being fired, accurate distance and site adjustment can be calculated based on elapsed time determined to within fractions of a second.

You have a Waltham Model 11609 , Type A, No. 105 timer/stopwatch. The large hand measures seconds in 1/5 sec. increments and the small hand measures minutes up to 30 min. Meylan Stopwatch Corp.? | NAWCC Forums
I just acquired another MEYLAN stopwatch at a small antique mall in Ferdinand, IN for five bucks, just seemed like to good of a deal to pass up. It was wound “tight” and did not want to tick, but I purchased it anyway as I thought to myself, “Self, since the American Olympic trials in swimming...

Can anyone identify this timer/stopwatch? Could it possibly date from ...
I'm really intrigued about this pocket watch timer (see attachments) - I suspect it was made pre-1880 due to the fact that it has the words "Fine Silver" on the inside of the case and that the Crown is in the sidewinder position. I'm thinking it may even date back to the 1860s? It has the...

Smiths Stopwatch case disassembly help needed - NAWCC Forums
Hey guys, I'm working on a Smiths (Westlclox branded) stopwatch from the early 1970's. I've gotten the back off and managed to get the movement somewhat apart. I've noticed in this process that the crystal on this watch needs to come off as well, and I can't get it off. The bezel is part of...

Meylan Decimal Stopwatch - NAWCC Forums
See the ad at page 25 of my database. I know of no connection between C.H. Meylan and the Meylan Stopwatch Company or any other purveyor of low-grade watches. The Meylans behind those low-grade watches might have been relatives, but their watches and firm or firms were wholly unrelated to C.H. Meylan, whose firm only made high-grade watches.

HOW A PENDULUM CLOCK WORKS - NAWCC Forums
The purpose of the gear train is to convert the slow rotation of the main wheel into the faster rotation needed to tell the time. Each wheel in the train turns faster than the previous one. Left to its own devices, the gear train would whiz along like a buzz saw, and would run down in a few seconds. What regulates its speed instead is called the escapement. The escapement has two parts. The ...
